What is Chiropractic?
Chiropractic care focuses on the prevention of disease and maintenance of overall health through manipulative therapy. This involves adjusting the vertebrae in the spinal column. There is a strong emphasis on the spinal column, nervous system, circulatory system, nutrition, exercise, lifestyle activities, and their relationships. As one of the three major forms of health care - allopathy and osteopathy being the other two - chiropractic prevents disease and maintains a patient's health and well-being through a collaborative effort with the patient.

Forming the basis of chiropractic is the belief that the human nervous system coordinates all the body's functions. This describes the body's ability to self-heal. Chiropractic care promotes self-healing through the application of concepts and methods that are not dependent on drugs or surgery.

What conditions can it treat?
Some common disorders that patients can realize benefits from chiropractic care are headaches and migraines, whiplash, muscle strains, ankle sprains, herniated discs, irritable bowel syndrome, carpal tunnel syndrome, ear infections, high blood pressure, urinary tract infections, and many more.

In the words of Dr. Nancy DiBenedetto, "Chiropractic is the choice for people who would rather let their bodies heal by digging deep and finding the root of the ailment and working to fix that. Once you find out why your body is telling you to go to the doctor, with a little help from a Chiropractic Physician, you can work to resolve the conflict."

Is it dangerous?
The Doctor will take a complete history and do a thorough physical examination before determining what type of treatment is appropriate for a patient's condition. At Advanced Chicago Physicians, we take the utmost care in the diagnosis and treatment of our patients and would never do anything that might pose an additional health threat to our patients.
